The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Callibrate your Wacom tutorialHad you finally made the transition from intuos 3 to intuos 4?, or Are you rich to change into an intuos 5? Had you made the transition from a first generation cintiq to the new ones?. More levels of pressure will mean more quality to the paintings, am i right?.
Did you thought that by default the pen will it be like using butter on bread?, you try it for the first time and you love all of it, you said i have sooooooo much control on my strokes im having a blast. Then only to realize you only have total control of the brush but when you are moving it really slow?. But when you do quick strokes the pressure drops a lot of paint making you redraw tons of stuff?
Did you ever thought that painter its hard to handle with new tablet? Too much pressure? If it has more pressure why i cant control more easier the beggining of the stroke which is more crucial?.

I'm leaving the details to your imagination, but here are some things I really like:
-White base color with black and red markings<33 (mostly on canines)
-Cute and fluffy things! No need to go all big eyes and oversized heads, but animals with fur. Creepy and slimy things just aren't my thing.. Still don't be afraid to make something dark/evil

2009 is finally here!

Happy New Year!

Just wanted to wish you all a Happy New Year! I'm sure 2009 will be an year of great achievements for us all! As always, I've made my goals list for the next 12 months period, the usual stuff of every year. But I'm really excited about it and looking forward to finally do everything:

#1 - Finish my masters and start my PhD in March! (This is a MUST do, no choice for me in here since I've already been accepted to PhD and it starts in March^^)
#2 - Go back to fitness! (Must get healthier! I've put on a lot of weight in 2008... Ok, I know I was too thin before: I'm almost 50Kg now and that's a good weight. But wanna stop in 50! xD)
#3 - Study more French! I've skipped so many classes last year... That's not good! Specially cause I NEED to learn French! And fast! (Think I'll do the intensive class this semester... Classes from Monday to Thursday every week!)
#4 - Discuss some relationship issues with my boyfriend. This whole distance-relationship thing is killing me and I'll need him to make some effort, at least getting himself a webcam and microphone so we can talk for more then 1 minute a day. (My cellphone bill is consuming monstruous proportions of my paycheck!)
#5 - Make myself a new financial plan or I might get out of control when my payment changes in March. I'll earn more, but I must spend it better! (With great power comes great responsability... LOL)

And in the "art area":
#6 - Start drawing more manga. I've recently found out that I no longer have practice in doing B/W pictures, framing and etc etc...
#7 - Draw more, paint less. Study anatomy, try new poses, do lost and lost of sketches!!! (Lately, I've kept myself safe in my confort zone and doing only what I know I can do. All finished pieces, from lineart to final coloring... no risk, no grow!)
#8 - Finish some TO DO's in DA:

Upload version 1.1 of the Coffee CSS template - Some improvements and bug fixing

Make my 10 free sketches thing - Man, I'm soooooo late in this one

Make some gifts: Rinoa's Zag, RealDandy's b-day gift, c85's colab, (insert others I don't remember here... If you are missing, please, please NOTE ME!!!)

#9 - Update my online store. There are lots of new products and I couldn't find free time to edit it!
#10 - Do a kiriban for my 20k hits^^
